Profile

The Relais on one hand enjoys the view of one of the most suggestive Italian lakes and of a nature filled with the sense of a wholly Franciscan mysticism, while on the other hand it is in close touch with the most important artistic, monumental, landscape expressions of the Tuscan region: on one side Cortona, Montepulciano and Siena, on the other the quiet image of peace transpairing from the surrounding green and the silver waters of the lake, assure a serene and fulfilling stay.

The architectural structure shows harmony in its agglomerate of several cottages, whose signs of the ancient function have been reevalued and redefined with a wise restoration approach, respecting all that the centuries have passed down and even shrewdly reenacting some structural features masked or destroyed by centuries of modifications. This ancient settlement dates back to the XVI century, with the original core probably going back to at least the mid-XIV century and precisely to the Order of Saint Stephen.

It may have been a rest stop and a reference point to the clergymen or pilgrims moving along the Chiusi, Castiglion del Lago, Arezzo way. The confirm the hypothesis advanced by some scholars that the Renaissance co built over Early Christian bases, emphasizing therefore its exclusively religioti in the low Middle Ages. And it cannot be excluded that even Saint Margherita may have stopped here Arsenio's death, before making her way towards Cortona.

Through the restauration of this village we have given life again to an historical reality that
gives an guests a feeling of confort and relax. Things that today are really necessary in our modern world. "Relais Alla Corte del Sole" can provide all the services of a real hotel granting in the neartime, the freedom of rural structures.

Every room has antique furniture which gives a touch of simple elegance but is also very useful. Therefore the merit of this restoration project lies also in reproposing a historical reality that still today is able to give the guest a sense of well being for body and mind, with the silence and the peace that characterize it, and responds to a real necessity in today's world, more and more oriented towards living one's free time in a space end environment made on man's measure.
