The Convento di Sandetole is situated in the village of Contea,in the lush green hills of Tuscany, between the Sieve and the Mugello Valley, near Rufina.The Convento di Sandetole is ideally positioned, 35 Kms (40 minutes by car) from Florence. Its is also close to Barbiana (known for the Don Lawrence Milani Research Centre), the Casentina National Forest Park, the hills of Falterona and Campigna, Lake Bilancino, the nature park at Gabbianello, and the Mugello car racing track. Borgo San Lorenzo, Vicchio, and Pontassieve are nearby (maximum 20 minutes by car or train), and offer several sport possibilities, such as swimming pools, tennis courts and sport centres. |

You can easily reach the Convento di Sandetole by train from the central station in Florence (Santa Maria Novella) in 40 minutes, and from the Campo di Marte railway station of Florence in 35 minutes, taking the train to Borgo San Lorenzo via Pontassieve and getting off at Contea/Londa (the railway station is 500 metres from the Convento di Sandetole).
For those travelling from Rome (taking the A1 motorway), exit at Incisa Valdarno, and follow directions for Pontassieve / Rufina / Dicomano / Forlė, using the ss67 (B road), passing through the village of Rufina, until you reach Contea. Turn at the junction following directions for Londa. After 100 metres, turn left. This road will lead you to the Convento di Sandetole.
For those people travelling from Bologna (taking the A1 motorway), exit at Barberino del Mugello, following directions for San Lorenzo/Dicomano/Pontassieve, using ss67 (B road). After Dicomano, turn left, following directions for Londa. After 100 metres, turn left again. This road will lead you to the Convento di Sandetole.
For those travelling from Florence, take the A1 motorway, exit at Florence Sud, and follow signs for Bagno a Ripoli / Pontassieve / Forlė. After Pontassieve, follow signs for Forlė / Rufina / Dicomano, using the ss67 (B road), passing through the village of Rufina. After Rufina, turn right in the direction of Londa. After 100 metres, turn left. This road leads you to the Convento di Sandetole (100 metres on the right).
For those arriving by plane at Florence Airport (Peretola), there is a bus service that goes from the airport to Florence central railway station (Santa Maria Novella) every 30 minutes, from 6.00 am to 11.30 pm. From there, you can take the train direct from Santa Maria Novella, to Contea/Londa. |
