We were given a guided tour of the 'complex' which was great and Pablito answered all our questions. He invited us to the restaurant that evening which was a lovely welcome. He took time to show us the apartment . He did this with everybody we noticed, whatever time they arrived . ... This was our first visit to Italy and we were very impressed with Borgo al Cerro. It was everything we looked for for a quiet, family hoilday and we would have no hesitation in recommending it. ... We checked out the night before our departure as we had an early start. We were given excellent advice about our onward journey to Rome. ... Don't be put off by the access road to the property- the industrial buildings at the the road junction might be a turn off, but Borgo is a gem ! ... A fantastic place to stay, comfortable , clean, friendly, lovely well appointed apartments with private gardens ,plenty of shade, lovely pool, beautiful area, peaceful location, quiet family accomodation, convenient location, and most of all, the most pleasant staff happy to help you with anything, anytime.

It is desirable that the dirty road To Borgo Al Cerro is reconstructed: the cars of all the guests got extremely dirty and the dust was penetrating in all the dead spaces all around in their cars. ... Very pleasant, quiet, luxurious and comfortable.

made to feel very welcome, offered advice on places to visit & eat. Made an excellent first impression. ... The first place i have been where the accomodation/resort was actually better than pictures and description on website/broucher. ... Very well mantained, lovely setting for a peacefull break but still not too far away from local towns/villages. staff welcoming and helpful throughout stay. will certanly revisit in season and take advantage of the pool area. without doubt very good value for money.

We had a problem here that was because we arrived at an unusual time--otherwise, all went very well. ... We LOVED Borgo Al Cerro and would try to go back anytime! ... Very relaxed and comfortable with helpful and personable host. Perfect for family vacation.

We arrived late but we got a clear message directing us to our apt. We bumped into a wedding at the restaurant. Even it's late (10:30 pm), the restaurant still provided good food for us. It's so moved. It's confusing about the final part of the direction, because the sign is not clear during the night. We knew we were close but cannot find it. There was a very nice guy directing us to the place via his car. ... It would be much more convinient, if there is a wireless access for internet. We can not really cook, since we need to buy lots of seasoning. ... Good!! ... The people there are so nice!! ... It's pretty and clean. It's not so convenient, but I think you will have a good time there.

We did not get any details on how to find the property and when we arrived in the village we rang to find out where to go and the directions were very poor. Sfter ringing again there was an travel rep in the apartments who directed us ... The only bad thing about the property was that the bathroom was very damp and therefore there was a very musty smell in it. ... I think you should give more details and try and promote the restaurant more as it was excellent ... Lovely relaxing place to stay

We arrived on a sunday so no one was there but everything was well laid out for us with notes etc so was all good. ... Very nice place, and would certainly consider staying there again. The only negative was the restaraunt was somewhat lacking. ... It is fairly child oriented which i didnt exactly expect. It wasnt a problem but some people might want to be aware of that. ... Lovely place to go with you family and relax but also as a base to explore Tuscany.

This was our 3rd holiday at Borgo Al Cerro. Everything about the holiday was excellent - we have booked again for next year.
For this type of holiday I don't think we could find anywhere better ! ... This is the ideal place for a family holiday. The whole site is excellent, our apartment number one was wonderful & directly by the pool.
The pool is in a wonderful position & is always very clean. The onsite restaurant is very good value.
Best of all is that it is near to places such as Siena, Florence & San Gimignano. There is a path up to the hilltop village of Casole d'Elsa, which is so unspoilt. We had meals here on three evenings - it is good that you can drink wine etc & then be able to walk back down to Borgo Al Cero.
For a holiday in Italy there can't be anywhere better.

Fabulous property just as it appeared on the web site. ... The only very minor minus point was that as we were from the UK and were spending our days exploring Tuscany we stayed in most evenings and the only English Language channel was CNN,i might suggest that they might have an English movie channel(or maybe i should learn Italian! lol). ... A fabulous place to explore Tuscany lovingly restored buildin in typical tuscan style.Very peacefull with great views over open fields.Fantastic value for money,we would go back again if we wanted a central base in Tuscany.Russ Greig-UK

The spacious accommodations were a delight. Pablito was very nice and made us feel welcomed. One suggestion is with respect to food. The restaurant next door has inconsistent hours so it's best to have completed your food shopping before you arrive as there are not many choices nearby for eating late in the evening. ... To take advantage of the pool, I would recommend staying later in Spring or Summer as the weather was a little too cool and the pool was not yet open.

We were very pleased with the reception on arrival. We were greated by a very friendly gentleman who gave us a guided tour of the facilities before showing us around our apartment. Nothing was a problem and he spoke perfect English. ... Having spent a very busy week touring the south of Italy, this was a very welcome peaceful break, with excellent facilities, lovely pool, restaurant next door, very good cooking facilities in the apartment, clothes washing facilities and iorning. The accommodation is located just a short distance from Casole del Elsa, a gem of a town which can be accessed on foot up a rough path (bring a torch if travelling at night). A car is vital to visit the surrounding countryside and towns. All round a very enjoyable stay. ... No. Web site was very accurate. ... Ideal place to relax and unwind, or as a base to visit surrounding attractions.

Made to feel very welcome, and given good advice on the surrounding area. ... It was great to see that the properties and gardens were just as they looked on the web photo's. ... I think you should inform people that the high standard of the original renovation of the buildings and the gardens has been maintained over the years. ... If you want peace and quite then this is a perfect country retreat in Tuscany.

We got there late after a long trip, but Pablito was there to welcome us and walk us to the apartment. He even made us reservations at the restaurant. ... The property was as good or better than described on the website. You should be very comfortable about getting what you see online. The floor plans for the various units were especially helpful when booking and very accurate.
... We stayed during the low season, so there were very few people and we had a lot of provacy. It was an excellent value.

It is possible to order bread every day for the following morning (except for Thursdays and Sundays), which was very convenient, because the nearest bakery was 15 min. away. The apartment was very clean and very spacious. It was early spring so the grounds were not at their peak, but still very beautiful. It was a wonderful value for the money. Biggest drawback was that the internet point that website says is available was only available during office hours, which was basically during the day when we wanted to be out exploring the surrounding area.

It would have been useful to have been told how isolated from shops the place was. If we had known more provisions could have been brought with us ... Reception closed on Sunday and Thursday Why Should it ever have been clossed Supposing there was an accident in the pool or elsewhere. In addition Sunday is the first day of many people's holiday and there were many questions we needed tohave asked. ... No mention was made of the dishwasher A welcome surprise ... Spacious ground floor accommadation. Surrounded by greenery where children could play BUT isolated among the Tuscan hills and therefore tricky to travel to other places

Mary was extremely helpful and of great assistance during our stay. ... This property will be even more appealing with the addition of the current units under construction as well as the separate building for the restaurant. Hopefully the rates won't increase.
However, laundry facilities need to upgraded dramatically. ... Very smooth ... The restaurant is an excellent addition that needs further explanation. It is a significant reason we keep returning to the property ... Quaint, quite and comfortable. The restaurant and pool make the property self contained. We didn't have to leave the property if we didn't want to.

see my remarks below ... Only two remarks. First one regarding the locality. It is not clear on websides that the house is situated close to the factory and the view to this side is not very nice. The second thing is impossibility to buy a bottle of wine there. But we received one from the owner as a present - it was very nice and kind. ... Although there was nobody there to greet us, there was a letter welcoming us, as we arrived late on Sunday afternoon. THe following day we were welcoming properly, and Pablito could not have been more friendly or helpful. ... Our accommodation was superb, plenty of room for us as a family, and well maintained. Very spacious - only complaint would be the lack of sound insulation from other apartments - only really people walking on tiled floors above us. ... Borgo Al Cerro is quite remote - which we loved, but people may need to be aware that it is a 15 min drive to the nearest supermarket, and that if they are arriving at a time when the shops are unlikely to be open (late at night / on a Sunday) they should be prepared to be without basic necessities like bottled water. ... A haven of peace and tranquility, ideal for families and couples alike. Well situated for visiting popular tourist destinations. We had a superb holiday, and the accommodation made it even better.

Too many insects and spiders in the rooms and house. Also weekly cleaning was not of the full house but basically just a change of linnen. Weekly cleaning should be the full cleaning of the full house! ... A place to relax and detach and listen to nature taking its course! Location perfect - away from the hustle and bustle yet close to everything. Good hosts, well mantained and excellent restaurant on the premises. Will go back again.

I made my reservations directly with Borgo al Cerro, via e-mail. They did not inform me about the check-in times, so we were very lucky that we happened to catch someone in the office when we arrived - otherwise, we would have been waiting for about five hours to check in. ... The pool was lovely - large, with many comfortable lounge chairs and umbrellas. However, we were distressed to learn that the management did not allow soccer to be played on the surrounding grassy area, because they thought it would harm the grass. With so many kids staying there, it really put a damper on things.
The apartment itself was somewhat disappointing, compared to other similar properties we've stayed at in Italy. First, it was on the third floor (something I was not told when I made the reservation). The outdoor area was therefore not really accessible for eating, unless someone wanted to carry trays of food down 2 flights of stairs. Second, although sheets were provided, the beds were not made - the sheets were just placed on the beds, folded and waiting for ME to make them - not a very welcoming way to start out a vacation stay. Third, the kitchen was barely adequate for four people, let alone the six people we had with us (2 adults and 4 kids). There were just enough plates and glasses for each of us, there was no oven or microwave, just a very small stove. The refrigerator was miniscule, and didn't keep the food very cold. In addition, the one shower we had was horrible - the water came out in one tiny dribble, with no pressure. Comparable properties I've stayed at provided a bathtub and a shower in a unit for 6 people - this one only had the one terrible shower.
The best thing about the place was the other people who stayed there - we became friendly with people from other countries, and that made our visit very special and rewarding. Also, the location was great.
One other negative aspect was the restaurant. We chose Borgo al Cerro because we wanted to be able to eat there a few times during the week. What ended up happening was that we ate there the first night, and it was so bad - terrible, slow service, unevenly served courses, mediocre food - we never went back. That was a big drawback. ... See comments above. ... Pretty setting, great pool, good location vis a vis Sienna, Florence, San Gimignana, but accommodations not top notch.

It was dark, there was no one there, there was confusion with another couple who had arrived at the same time and thought they were in the same villa ... There wasn't enough soft furniture for us all to sit down, the top of the stairs was very dangerous for children, there wasn't hot water for all showers, there wasn't enough pillows. The key didn't work in the front door so we locked ourselves out and had to wait an hour for someone to come in th edark with a 2 year old child, they then made us climb through the window, hurting my partners arm in the process. The crockery and cutlery was well equipped. ... The stairs should be mentioned to parents with children, also that there are no baths - most children have baths and not showers. Also directions need to be clearer for people arriving at night time ... Pleasant but maybe not suitable for young children

The only bad comment I would have is that we were on the ground floor and could hear every movement from the apartment upstairs but it didn't affect the enjoyment of our stay. ... the only reason there was no-one there to meet us was that we arrived early and the reception was closed, as expected ... I did not appreciate the welocme drink at the local restaurant; we were told that it was a welcome drink and expected to be able to chat with other new guests. However, upon arrival we were immediately shown to a table for our family only and presented with a menu for the restaurant by one of the young waiters. there was no communication from anyone, merely the waiters arriving to take our order for the meal. I feel that were invited there under false pretences ie to order a meal. We fpund the experience, awkward, embarrassing and disappointing ... none ... no ... quiet, relaxing and good quality
beautiful setting (apart form the factories) and well-situated for visits
