Coming from North From north by car(Milan/Venice/Bologna/Brenner Pass):
Take the AI motorway southbound, heading for Rome, and leave motorway at exit marked FIRENZE CERTOSA; immediately take the freeway (raccordo autostradale) headed for SIENA, and after about 37 km take the turn-off at COLLE VAL D'ELSA NORD. Head for the town of Colle Val D'Elsa, until you come to a sharp right-hand turn (just before the centre of the town) signposted for Volterra, San Gimignano, and Casole d'Elsa. The road climbs up and skirts the old part of town on the hill on your left. 2 km further on, you come to an outlying part of town called "Le Grazie", with an Esso petrol station on the left. 50 m further on from this point is a turn-off on the left for Casole d'Elsa. Carry on along this main road (strada provinciale nr.27) for about 7 km until you reach 2 consecutive roundabouts. Go straight on over them, taking the exit for Casole d'Elsa (not the exit for Cavallano/Volterra), and after ca 500 m, passing some industrial buiuldings on your right, take the right-hand turn for Borgo al Cerro, opposite the sports ground at a crossroads. Carry on along this unsurfaced road for 1 km, and you'll find Borgo al Cerro on your left.
Coming from the South (Rome) by car: Take the VALDICHIANA exit off the A1 motorway, and carry on along the 4-lane freeway ("raccordo autostradale") for Siena. Once you get to Siena, continue on the same freeway in the direction of Firenze/Bologna until the exit 20 km further on at Colle di val d'Elsa Sud. From here, follow the signposts for Casole d'Elsa; after three roundabouts and a small bridge, take a sharp right (following the signposts for Casole d'Elsa/Mensanello). After around 7 km of surfaced road, with its panoramic views, you get to a junction (where the road meets the larger "strada provinciale"), and here you turn right. After around 200 m, opposite the sports ground, turn left, following the signpost for Borgo al Cerro. You arrive after 1 km of unsurfaced road. We're on the left.
Coming from Pisa by car: Take the free motorway FI-PI-LI towards Firenze. Take the exit Ponte a Elsa, and follow the road 429. When you reached Certaldo, follow the signs for Poggibonsi. After a few kilometers you will find the sign for Colle di Val d'Elsa. From Colle di Val d'Elsa follow the above itinerary.
