Montebenichi is located in a small village on a hill at 300 metres from the south-eastern border with Chianti classico (municipalities of Gaiole and Castelnuovo), 1500 ft above sea level halfway between Siena and Arezzo. |
By car:
- From Florence:
enter the pay-highway A1, direction south toward Rome. Exit at the Valdarno exit (approximately 30 km past Firenze Sud exit). Pass the toll booth and turn right following the signs to Montevarchi. After about half a mile if you identify on your left a sign to Levane-Bucine-SP 11, take this road to reach Levane, otherwise pass through Montevarchi, following indications to Arezzo, Levane and Bucine. When you reach the traffic light in Levane go straight following the signs to Ambra,Siena. Remaining on the main road drive past Bucine, Capannole, Ambra and Pietraviva. One mile after Pietraviva make a right turn following the sign Montebenichi. Drive on the small country road uphill for 3 miles until you reach the village, pass by the hotel parking gate on your right and enter the town driving to the central small "piazza" where the hotel is located. (time from Valdarno exit to Montebenichi: half an hour).
- From Rome:
enter the pay-highway A1, direction north. Exit at the Valdichiana exit and follow the signs to Siena. After about 17 miles, exit at Colonna del Grillo and follow the signs to Bucine. After about 3 miles (5 km) make a left following the sign to Montebenichi. Drive on the small country road uphill for 3 miles until you reach the village, pass by the hotel parking gate on your right and enter the town driving to the central small "piazza" where the hotel is located. (time from Valdichiana exit to Montebenichi: 40 minutes).
- From Siena:
(this may be a good alternative from Florence if you are on the A1). Exit at Firenze-Certosa and soon after enter the Florence-Siena freeway, direction towards Siena. Once you reach Siena, passing by the city, follow the signs to Perugia-Arezzo. After 10 miles exit at Colonna del Grillo and follow the signs to Bucine. After about 3 miles km make a left following the sign Montebenichi. Drive on the small country road uphill for 3 miles until you reach the village, pass by the hotel parking gate on your right and enter the town driving to the central small "piazza" where the hotel is located.
