It is not easy to drive in Mideval town and the map to the B&B needs to be bigger and have more details, such as left at the church, up hill 3 houses, and so on. ... The hostess was very helpfull and provided everything we asked for. ... If you are not a good driver you will have a hard time navigating the streets of this town. Also, reat the smallest car available -streets are very narrow. ... Very charming property. Many fabulous restaurants just couple of blocks away. Beautiful town. I absolutly loved it.

We arrived later than expected so we did not expect Annalisa to be available. She did give us driving directions when we called though. ... We really enjoyed our stay at the Castellana. It was quaint, clean and very convenient for walking. ... Very Tuscan!!!!!!!

Montalcino is a VERY confusing city. We had a number to call for directions, but no phone. It was therefore our fault if we got lost. ... The breakfast was not very good. No juice, no fruit, only crackers and cookies with a little bit of jam. ... The owner had lost the information about our deposit. She took my word. ... You have to be in shape to live in Montalcino. You need to climb 89 very steep steps to get to the center of the village, where all the shops and restaurants are located. ... It was very interesting to live in a small village. We got to share the life of the local people. Our room was very large, with vaulted ceiling and a beautiful bathroom. The owner was very friendly. She provided a lot of suggestions for our itineraries, restaurant recommendations, etc. She was quite flexible about breakfast schedule on our last day.

Room was very clean and spacious. They also have private parking. ... Great view of countryside from breakfast table. Within walking distance to anywhere in town. Annalisa gave wonderful recommendations during our stay... ... We stayed at four different places in Italy during our trip. Porta Castellana was our favorite by far. Annalisa and Celeste were gracious hosts, and the b&b is charming and very comfortable. We plan to visit Montalcino again and will definitely stay here again. Listen to Annalisa's recommendations on food and enotechas!

Its a bit tricky to drive in Moltalcino because not all the streets have names but this is not an isue, just stop and ask anybody. We arived first at the hospital ;-) but a guy with a small four-whell bike shown us the way to Porta Castellana. ... The place is realy marvelous, simply, quiet and nice. The stone house looks great! The owners are friendly and helpful. ... You should definitively go there, go in Tuscany, and go in Italy! It’s really difficult to describe Tuscany in words you should see it!

difficult to find because printed version of map difficult to read. ... Nice gazebo for breakfast! ... I want to be able to pay with a creadit card. Not clear on the website that credit card is for a deposit and not for actual payment. ... parking nearby is apparently not allowed, but the rule is not enforced, so parking is available. ... A great mixture of new and old

Montelcino is difficult to find your way around given that many of the streets youcannot access by car. We got confused as some of the roads we needed to go down had restricted access. We decided to park up find the accommodation on foot and once there the owner was very helpful and explained the road system. ... We paid up front for our acommodation as this was easier for us and meant checking out was hassle free. We asked if we could leave the car at the accommodation for a couple of hours so we could look round the town which was also no problem. ... The road sign directions to note that some of the roads do say resricted access but is okay to drive down. ... Immaculate b&b with character in quiet spot but close to the town. Lovely terrace in the garden to sit and have breakfast. Very helpful owners. There are a number of steps to climb to the town or you can take a windy road up the town. Would recommend and return there myself.

We arrived a little late and called Porta Castella for assistance to get to the hotel. The owner, Annalisa herself drove to where we were and helped us to the hotel. We are very pleased with the personalized attention. ... Annalisa, the owner is very gracious. She was very helpful and never minded spending the time to assist with restaurant choices, wineyards in the area and etc. ... A speedy and efficient check out. ... The view is splendid. It is a small bed and breakfast but the attention to detail is splendid. The bathrooms are very clean and spacious. The owner, Annalisa, very pleasant. ... Best bet for the price and quality.
