All was in order at arriival even when we arrived early. We were very surprised with two complementary bottles of wine and chilled water.

We needed to leave before opening hours, but this turned out to be no problem at all. Everything was treated very professionally.

Il C. is a great location with superb rooms and very professional staff. A great stay, and we would be more than happy to return, and will recomend it to anybody wishing to visit the the region.

The directions to the accomodation seemed to assume guests were travelling from the north. We came from the south along the coast, through Volterra, and found the directions very confusing.

Our stay was more than we could have expected, and our expectations were rather high to begin with.
We would recommend Il Castagno to all our friends, even our most wealthy and hard to please friends, as the location, facilities, and status of the country homes was outstanding.

Almost everything is available for the kitchen (except microwave), you really do not have to worry.

Imagine a miniature village with old houses. There was one big house, The Villa, that took a lot of people and The Villa had a private pool. The other houses were devided in appartments. Our appartment was reasy good and I think that the other appartments were good too. It was very pritty and well taken care of.

We arrived earlier than planned so had lunch at the trattoria over the road.
Cheti looked after us after lunch and all through the week. She was excelant.

Il Castagno is really a beautiful place to stay!

The pool is great and clean and you have a magnificent view down the valley.
You get a discount card at Il Castagno for several restaurants, shops and activities (like language courses and horse riding).

A really nice apartment in a beautifully restored ancient building with modern facilities in a small village, nearby the hotspots of Tuscany. Really a place I would recommend and come back to.

The accomodations provided at Il Castagno were perfect for my wife, daughteer, and myself. We greatly enjoyed our time there and hope to be able to return some day.

The one positive thing that should be included but may not be as highlighted is how centrally located Il Castagno - it provides a quiet, country location while being extremely close to the small towns of San Gimignano and Volterra (to name two) as well as being close to the larger cities (easily accessible while staying at Il Castagno).

We were welcomed and greeted by name as if we were important guests arriving as expected. We were personally shown to our apartment and given a brief tour. The refrigerator was stocked with water to get us started. Assistance was provided with luggage to help us get settled. We were also provided with a resource list for restaurants, markets, etc. in the area which was very helpful.

The staff was friendly and helpful. We forgot to pack a travel alarm (which we needed the last day to make a train schedule)and our electric converter wasn't working with our camera battery charger. Valentina and Desy provided both. They also assisted in arrangments for early checkout because we needed to leave before the office opened on our last morning. The weather was rainy and cool during our stay, but the reception by Il Castagno was warm and sunny!

A very nice farmhouse with a few - quite private - apartments. Wonderul views on all sides. A quiet and realaxing place. Nice swimming pool and children pool. Overall, a not to be missed holiday experience.

The swimming pool is very near from a big parking, which is not beatiful. Furthermore, we could hear the road from the property. But except thos two points, it wad really nice

We were a bit late in arriving due to bad traffic but the receptionist waited for us and was very understanding and friendly.

I believed that the price was per apartment not the number of people. We had an extra person (3 adults in a 4 person room) and were charged an extra 10e a night.

Although our flights were delayed significantly (to after 11 p.m.) somebody was still on site to provide keys, etc. Very appreciated and very helpful.

One of the highlights for my children was to be able to watch the herd of mountain goats and deer that wandered about behind our apartment. Perhaps this is only seasonal, but if not, would be a great selling point for families. You could also mention the small playground on site for small children.
