Il Casello country house bed and breakfast is a tiny hamlet nestled in the Tuscan countryside, consisting of three stone farm buildings separated by a stone flagged courtyard which offers a splendid panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. Il Casello is just a few kilometres away from Greve in Chianti, the celebrated main town of the Chianti Classico wine region. |
 One of the most famous landscapes in the world, celebrated by painters and poets alike, is characterized by olive groves, long lines of vines, gently undulating hills and knolls crowned by majestic cypress trees. During the Renaissance, the Chianti region saw a flourishing of houses and farm estates, no longer girded by battlement walls, but by parks and gardens. And it was during this period that the central nucleus of "Il Casello" was born. |
The stone vaulted ceilings, terracotta arches, ancient doorways and the pigeon loft of "Il Casello" are classic examples of typical Tuscan country architecture. From the flagged terrace it is possible to combine the enjoyment of a glass of exquisite red wine or a fine meal in the open air with the contemplation of an unique and beautiful landscape. |
The traditional stone buildings that comprise "Il Casello" country house bed and breakfast are surrounded by extensive terraced gardens where gardening tools from the past are displayed. At the far end of the gardens guests can relax around the 14 x 7 metre pool with its sunbathing deck and fabulous views over the neighbouring valley. There is an outdoor play area and a ping pong table for children. |
In the main building the guests will find at their disposal a bar, set in an old wine cellar with its original stone vaulted ceiling. On the first floor there is a large, comfortable drawing-room with a magnificent old fireplace. The whole place has a magical atmosphere of tranquility, making your stay here truly unforgettable. |
"Il Casello" country house bed and breakfast is 25km from Florence, 33km from Siena, 5km from Greve in Chianti and 1km from the medieval village of Panzano, the historic centre of which has reached us in a perfect state of conservation. The estate extends over 7 hectares of vineyards, olive groves and woodlands. Our guests are free to take a walk through the vines or follow the paths through the woods. |
