No Problems ... This hotel was just remarkable,It is situated right in the heart of Siena, close to everything. My room was very large and comfortable, and the views out over the old town from my windows was simply magnificent. The hosts were friendly, gracious and made me feel very welcome at all times.I would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone wishing to visit Siena.

We arrived via the upper road and no one was at that desk; they were below but we found them. Rooms are spectacular; bathrooms little cramped and not spotlessly clean; garden and location and balconies quite wonderful. want to go back and stay longer. ... We find it very weird that there is no one on site during the night in case of emergency.Staff leaving before 9 pm is way too early in case of needs by customers. ... The charm and beauty of the historic value of the property should be made larger than life. It is like going back in time. ... A fabulous place to stay and I want to go back soon. One night in Sienna is definitely not enough.

the rooms were not very clean. ... it's a nice place, though you're not too careful about rooms being very clean, it's simple and rather quite. i didn't like the linoileum floor though. not bad nevertheless

Two entrances on different levels and roads. Directions were a bit tricky and should have been more detailed. We had a hard time finding the place, but it was well worth it. ... Loved the place. Great location, few minutes walk from Il Campo, and great view. Lovely rooms with frescoed ceilings.

Need detailed directions, as the hotel is difficult to find. The reference to two addresses was confusing. Directions to the nearby parking garage would also have been useful. ... One of the most delightful hotels of our vacation in Umbria and Tuscany. Great locxation for visiting sights in Siena; although somewhat difficult for making out of town day trips. Wonderful architecture and interior appointments. Very nice breakfast, always delivered to the room when requested.

the first night we didn't have a balcony as promised but changed rooms after that. The receptionist Silvia was very pleasant and helpful. Walking directions to the hotel sent us to the Casato Sopra entrance which was locked and no-one answered the bell; it took us some time to find the main entrance where reception desk is located. ... fascinating old building, very conveniently situated. Big comfortable beds and nice warm rooms - very welcome in unseasonably cold spring weather!

We had requested a double bed, but got a very small room with twin beds. The receptionist was very apologetic and reduceded the cost by $10. ... This was a charming place to stay in Sienna, despite the fact that our room was tiny.We had a nice terrace right off our room on which we ate breakfast. ... There is no elevator and transporting our heavy bags to an upper floor was somewhat difficult. There was no porter available. ... We would recommend it as a charming, historic hotel in a good location with friendly staff. I would, however, caution people about the size of rooms and the lack of an elevator.

the voucher stated that the hotel is 40 metres from il campo. this is blatantly untrue and as i have recently had heart surgery i was looking for a hotel that did not require too much walking on a steep terrain. two fairly minor gripes, the minibar had very little in it and was expensive, also there were no drinking vessels whatsoever in the room, not even a plastic cup. ... lovely building, not in location stated, virtually devoid of service. had to decide the day before what we wanted to drink for breakfast as there are no on-site facilities

Very nice place and the room was surprisingly larger than I thought it would be. Great view of Siena too. Will try to stay here again on my next visit to Siena.

Il Casata straddles 2 streets and the directions had us go up the back street, where there is no sign or receptionist. Fortunately we were able to call from outside the hotel and learn of the other entrance. We loved the place. We had a really cute room, which was spacious, had a large balcony and comfortable beds with new pretty down comforters. There are several welcoming common areas, including a very pretty shaded patio. The location is very convenient. It had the best of both worlds - modern comfort and old world charm. The bathroom was spacious, but those Italian showers are tight! ... see above ... Highly recommend.

We arrived at the back door and rang the buzzer, knocked on the door etc. No one answered. It would be nice if there was a sign or communication between the from front desk saying where to go in order to get to the main reception area. ... We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our stay. Our room was beautiful and we loved the view of the courtyard. ... Better directions from main reception and 'back' door. Also, describing the walk from the hotel to the de Campo as up and down hills would be good. My older parents had a hard time walking up to the de Campo. ... The Residenza d'Epoca Il Casato was a very picturesque tuscan hotel with a bed and breakfast feel. The rooms are clean and full of character and the hallways/family rooms kept the old world charm. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

The receptionist suggested a restaurant and made a reservation. The restaurant was nearby and delicious. ... The receptionist was very accomodating. She allowed us to leave our luggage for several hours after check out and provided a key so that we could pick it up at our convenience. ... There are two addresses and at the time wearrivec(and throughout our stay)only one entrance was staffed. We directed our taxi to the unstaffed entrance at first. We figured it out quickly, but more specificity would be nice. ... The hotel was well located and nice. Reasonable room rate and large, well-kept rooms.

I was surprised that the beautiful lobby pictured on the website was not actually used (the computer/check in is on the lower floor). The room was nice but the drywall was left unfinished around the bathroom door. ... no. ... The staff was very nice and extremely helpful. One of the women suggested 2 very good restaurants and made the reservations for us at the one where we needed it. ... Convenient location, great staff, good value, not luxurious.

We stayed here last year also so knew what we were coming back to. We requested the same room as last year also. However, the shower that was leaking last yesr was still leaking this year. This is a lovely property to stay in, perfect location & a beautiful building. However, if a little bit more effort was put into the upkeep it would be even better. Little things like breakfast not arriving on time, shower leaks, door onto balcony not closing properly. Overall though i would recommend it.

The hotel has two entrances. The entrance that is on their actual address has no receptionist and we waited there for a long time in the rain. We finally figured out to enter from a different street. The next day we found another couple arriving at the wrong entrance too and we had to help guide them to the proper entrance. ... The staff was very helpful and the hotel was very nice. It feels exactly like an italian house and I like the homey feeling. However, they need to clean the rooms more thoroughly as I saw spider webs on top of closets and the ceiling. Other than that, everything was fine.

a little shabbier than we expected, but still a great location and comfortable, spacious rooms, with beautiful balcony and views.
The breakfast, brought to the room, was mediocre. The cappucino tasted like it was made from one of those automated machines at the AutoGrill. ... Comfortable, charming quarters. Great location. Reasonable price.

The bathrooms were difficult to manoevre in because of being too small, but the beds were comfortable and had wonderful cotton sheets...! ... A central hotel with friendly staff and a relaxed atmostphere. Breakfast a little bit random but fine. In a typically beautiful Sienese building with some fantastic original bits beneath the inevitable 'hotelifying'. A little noisy at times because of its location, but atmostpheric if you love Siena.

The hotel is in a very old section of the city on a street whose name is very similar to one which is nearby. The main entrance is shared with another hotel located on a different street where there is no sign for Il Casato. I only located the hotel through persistent effort and much walking of very hilly streets. You have my permission to share this with Il Casato.

We were an hour later than we had specified due to travel delays and phoned the receptionist to let her know. She was very friendly and had no problem with waiting for us. ... The property was in a perfect location, and the beds were very comfortable with fresh clean linen. The bedroom was clean. There was a communal lounge area with sofas and information about surrounding attractions which was helpful. However the shower room was not good. It smelt of mould, there was mould all around the shower cubicle, and the cubicle was so small you had to turn off the shower to wash, turning it on again to rinse. (We are slim women so I would imagine it would be even worse for larger people). Also the street noise was clearly audible ouside but that may be expected due to the location. ... Very good. ... Excellent location, very friendly staff, great coffee at breakfast.
Good as a base for a city break, but if you want somewhere to relax in your room quietly then I wouldn't recommend it. ... As above, but would warn them about the shower room and the street noise.

It is a fine place to stay; though the mattress was paper thin, the room super small, and the whole place kind of smelly.

The hotel has entrances on two streets, one of which (listed first) is unmarked except for the house number and is indistinguishable from many private residneces. The other entrance has a modest sign. Visitors should be directed to the second address. ... The breakfast is served to your room by an outside caterer. While perfectly fine to me, this might be mentioned for those expecting to rendevous round the breakfast table to plan the days activities. ... We waited 15 minutes for the clerk to be available to check out. ... Visitors should not try to drive to hotel and should locate the entrance on ... A charming hideaway, close to tourist highlights and just off the window shopping stroll

The reason why I found that the property was worse depends on the dimension of the bathroom and on the conditions of the door: it didn't close well so our privacy was not guaranteed. ... 'Il Casato' is a nice bed & breakfast, quite comfortable and really close to the centre of Siena. Moreover it is peculiar because it is set in an old and beautiful palace.
