This fine house is situated on one of the most wonderful hilly place of a region called "Lucchesia". It has been made out of an ancient convent whose origins date back to the XVII century. The house is placed on a unique position with a magnificient view over the town of Lucca. After many carelessness and neglect years, the house has been completely restored by the actual owners who have chosen the name "La Cappella " because of a little church which testifies its ancient origins. |
This graciously restored villa now offers a quiet and restful retreat for our guests. There are stunning views of the hill towns, vineyards and olive groves, and the picture perfect Tuscan landscape from the estate. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with lovely gardens, 300 year old olive trees, camellias, wisteria, lilacs and quiet retreats and a tiled pool and lounge area. La Cappella is the perfect location for a wedding or family celebration. There is a small chapel, and, of course, the exquisitely landscaped grounds and magnificent views make the perfect setting for an important event. |
The ancient convent has been lovingly restored and tastefully decorated to preserve its tiled floors and high Tuscan ceilings. Now a magnificent villa for from 8 to 21 persons, the home is comprised of three levels. On the terrace level, there is a spacious, fully equipped kitchen and great room housed in the ancient stone walls of the original building. Complete with Tuscan hearth, and five burner stove and oven, refrigerator, freezer and dishwasher, the kitchen opens onto a stunning terrace overlooking the pool and the sun-drenched hillside. |
Upstairs, on the main level, the grand salon with fireplace overlooks the entire valley. High ceilings, terra cotta floors and beautifully appointed furnishings complete this magnificent room. The bedroom and bath wing is tastefully decorated in soft Tuscan colors, comfortable beds with luxurious linens and spacious and complete tiled baths with tubs and hand showers. There are four bedrooms each with its own bath on the main floor, as well as a guest bath off the main salon and five additional bedrooms and baths available upstairs in three separate suites. The public rooms can easily accommodate large groups. |
La Cappella is just a few km from the beautiful walled city of Lucca where shops and restaurants are conveniently located. Many of the nearby country villages have wonderful "trattorie" serving delicious homemade pastas, locally produced virgin olive oil and the wines of the region. Florence, Siena, Pisa and the Cinque Terre are within easy driving distance. |
La Cappella offers the opportunity of passing an holiday rich of historic and artistic interest as well as in a complete relax. Once, the route of the important "Via Francigena" passed by here and it leaded all the pilgrims, coming from France and Spain, to Rome. The property is surrounded by a park where it is possible to take advantage of a wide panoramic swimming-pool. The surrounding hills plunged into the green of olive trees, vineyards and woods invite the lovers of nature to take long and agreeable walks. |
