Profile |
Certaldo Alto is a medieval town, which was built enterely with red bricks and has preserved its fascinating integrity. Within the walls of the historic centre, opposite the 12 th century Pretorio Palace, Casa al Cantone offers guests the chance to experience the atmosphere of this medieval town. |
It is Giovanni Boccaccio's town where he is also buried. His house contains a very rich library.
Certaldo is situated In Valdelsa, (one of the most scenographic landscapes of Tuscany), for its sweet hills bordered of cypresses, castles and towers, at the borders between the province of Florence - whose it's the southern town - and the province of Siena, pratically at the same distance from the two cities (about 40 km). It looks at the mountains of Chianti at east and the high ground between San Gimignano (12 km) and Volterra at West (30 km). |
