There are may be, in Tuscany, other ancestral mansions as supremely beautiful as Villa Campestri but none enjoys a setting so sublime and so serene. High in the Mugello hills and surrounded by hundreds of acres of lawns and wooded parkland, Villa Campestri is a gloriously peaceful retreat which enjoys stupendous views over the upper Sieve valley to the foothills of the Apennines.

You were delighted to
discover a remarkably unspoiled part of Tuscany, rich in artistic heritage and glorious scenery and were equally enthusiastic about their stay at Villa Campestri.

Villa Campestri is high enough to avoid the mists which often wreathe the Tuscan valleys and numerous springs keep the landscape deliciously green all year round whilst the woods are home to deer which stray on to the lawns in winter.
This magical countryside is ideal for walking and for riding from the stables just up the ill.

Medieval on one side, Renaissance on the other, Villa Campestri has a seven hundred years old history. Throughout almost all this era, the estate was owned by the Michelozzo family, from whom came the great Renaissance architect Michelozzo di Bartolommeo who designed the splendid Mugello palaces of the Medici, Trebbio and Cafaggiolo.

From
"Guida del Mugello e della Valdisieve" di F.Niccolai: "Owned by the Roti Michellozzi family since the beginning of the XIIIth century. In 1380 Lorenzo Di Bicci painted the tabernacle near the villa……."
