Warmly greeted by Enrique, the owner (Baron) of the castle who gifted us with a bottle of his own, own world renowned '3-Star' (actually '3 Olives') olive oil, which is rated among the top 7 Olive oils in Italy. He also greets his guests with a bottle of his own wine and provides a nicely put together book of local things to see and do! ... This place is VERY popular; check-out time is earlier (10:00) than typical hotels and they run a tight schedule and really do expect you to be out on time!!! ... Very central in terms of location, close to Firenze (Florence), only an hour from Sienna to the south and Lucca, the oldest completely walled city, to the north.
Go for a walk in the Old Forest!
Recommend renting a car (in advance) as it definately enhances the experience. There is a Hertz in Florence. ... Wonderful place with very hospitable hosts. The Rose Room where we stayed was a very comfortable, spacious 2nd floor apartmentwith living room, small refrig, stove, Queen bed. Beautiful views of surrounding countryside from the 'Castle Hill'.
Would recommend it highly.

We were very happy with our arrival experience at the Castello. Everything was explained to us in detail, and we were given a folder with lots of information which we found very useful and helpful for our sightseeing throughout the week. ... We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved the character and history of the Castello and were very happy with our room, the Rose room. Everything that we needed was provided and we were able to shop for food and groceries at the Co-op nearby. We would highly recommend the Castello to others. ... Excellent accommodation, lovely pool, fantastic breakfast (this was optional), delicious oil and bottle of wine was provided upon our arrival and we enjoyed drinking more wine, fabulous position but you do need a car to get around Tuscany. Fantastic stay at the Castello - our only disappointment was the weather.

As the people who live in the main house are the original faimly I felt uncomfortable interrupting them with touristy questions. You have to ring the bell at the gate to get assistance and the manager is no always there. Silvia was very nice when available and was well versed in assisting us with information about local events and sites to drive to. The property was very beautiful and the wine making room filled with the smell of fresh crushed grapes. Our accomodations were great and we were pleased to find a gas range and nicely set up kitchenette. I have also stayed at Salvadonica which has a more inviting and available staff but it was fun to try something new. ... Again the feeling of intruding as their guest was not great but the site was wonderful and Imprunetta a nice little town. I really wanted to see the interiors of the chapel and vin santo rooms but this seemed difficult to ask for. ... I particularly liked the terre cotta making in the valley and would have loved to see how they made the pots. It would be a nice tour to offer through the castle perhaps. ... A wonderful estate with comfortable rooms and a beautiful views in every direction.

If you do not hire a car the best way to get to Castello di Cafaggio is by taxi. Our taxi driver was even blown away by the place and the views that were available. I would suggest though that if you want to stay at Castello di Cafaggio and you want to explore more of Tuscany that you hire a car in Florence. The receptionist provided us with all relevant information on the Castello and the local area to make our stay enjoyable ... Absolutely fantastic views of the local area. It is a wonderful place to stay at for a honeymoon. As we had already been in Europe for more than 2 weeks it was great to stay in place that was reasonably self conatined where we were able to cook our own meals. ... The staff at the Castello di Cafaggio were very helpful, so much so that the owner even provided my wife and I with a lift to the bus stop so we could catch the bus to Florence. We were also provided with information on where, when and how to catch the bus. ... During our stay there was a festival in the local village of Imprunetta to celebrate the start of the grape harvest. It was a fantastic experience to go to the festival and to see the wonderful floats built by the local villagers. ... Everything you dreamt that Tuscany would be.

The lady of the Castello welcomed us personally, and was very cordial. She took us for a tour of the facilities right after check-in. My only regret was not buying the olive oil they make when I had the chance, because I did not see her again. She also made reservations for our evening dinner in town. ... Very nice accomodations, but I think we were having a heat wave. ... when we checked in, we were asked if we needed transportation set up for departure. There was a driver for us promptly at 8 a.m. to take us to our Sunday morning train. ... Breakfast is available in the Castello's Art Nouveau Dining room, when scheduled in advance. ... A romantic midieval castle where one can meet interesting people from everywhere.

Silvia was a perfect hostess and gave us a tour of the grounds and a great information booklet about the castle and the area! ... We were so pleased with our stay here and hope to return again some day. By far, these were the largest rooms we had during our stay in Italy. Breakfast was also some of the best during our trip. ... Note that extra services such as breakfast and laundry are to be paid in cash at check out. ... What a wonderful place to stay while in Tuscany! The rooms were spacious and charming. The history of Castello di Cafaggio made it all the more wonderful as we saw the vineyards and olive groves. The staff went out of their way to do everything they could to take care of us. We can't wait to return here someday!

Inn keeper provided an excellent binder of information - maps, history of the castle, things to do & see, etc. ... Beautiful old castle on working farm - surrounded by olive trees with a nice wooded area for walks, great location for driving around Tuscany.

The lady who owns the castle was not there to check us in and a couple of things were not explained to us such there being a separate power supply for the kettle and hairdryer, but nothing too important. ... The perfect get-away. Sympathetically restored keeping its rustic charm with the only touch of modernity being the swimming pool.

We were greated with a friendly smile and a glass of wine. Couldn't think of a better way to start a Tuscan holiday! ... We absolutely loved our stay at Castello di Cafaggio. The owners were warm and welcoming and full of useful information, the location within the Chianti region was fabulous and the apartment was clean, comfortable and exactly as promised in your description. We loved it and would definitely go back again!

We were welcomed most cordially and got a lot of information which proved to be very useful during our stay. ... No. ... Even in winter Castello di Cafaggio is a marvellous place to stay. Lodgings are clean and comfortable, proprietors make you feel very welcome, surroundings are splendid. We imagine that in spring, summer and autumn you could even better enjoy the beautiful countryside, but even as it was in winter Castello di Cafaggio is indeed a very pleasant place to stay!

Fabulous spot quiet and tranquila absolutely perfect. Well worth every euro as very good value ... no everything organised so no problems what so ever ... Don't think so as your site is very clear and very informative.Compliments on ease of use, extremely quick and user friendly from info right through to booking itself which was highly efficient, excellent !!!! ... Have already recommended it to all as think it is a fabulous spot even for a quiet, beautiful weekend immersed in the tuscan landscape, the pool area is just heavenly !!! please leave it like that it is charm in itself !! magical.
