Profile |
CastelBigozzi, one of the oldest embattled castles of this area, rises on the land of Strove. In the Middle Ages this castle belonged to the ancestors of the old and noble Montanini family. Its coats of arms well recounts its history: a red shield, like the land that surrounds it, a black lion, symbol of courage and battles, glory and defeats. |
Historical chronicles in fact report that is was a place of refuge and protection for Ghibelline troops. Today, CastelBigozzi is a tourist residence that offers hospitality to guests from the four corners of the world.
The Nature
A place with an antique charm, immersed in the stillness of the Tuscan countryside, where you will feel the warmth of a welcoming residence and the richness of a land that speaks the language of the Art, History, Nature and Traditions. |
An ideal place, where you will find peace and spend a totally relaxing holiday, in a land that never stops surprising you all year around. To lovers of nature this area offers many paths for outings by foot, on mountain bike or on horseback, following tracks of bygone days. This is how you will come upon breath-taking landscapes like the famous "Crete" of Siena (the Sienese Clavey Hills), the Chianti, or one of the many thermal springs of the area. |
The Land of Strove The history of this small village cradled by the Sienese hills started shortly before the year 1000, but its origins are even older. In fact, the Etruscan road passed through Strove and it was indeed the Etruscans who gave it a name, inspired by the red colour of its earth. Later came the pilgrims of the Frankish Road and the knights, the battles and the legends, the churches and the castles. |
Chiantiturismo - "Le soste nel Chianti Valdelsa" The name Chiantiturismo is intended to express the quality of stays and of the welcome in an area with a whole wealth of traditions culture, History and Art. Attempting to interpret the expectations of the people who come to visit the Chianti-Valdelsa area and the reasons that bring them to stay here, with Chiantiturismo we suggest some Hotels obtained from the renovation of buildings of different ages which represent a truly historical itinerary and share the utmost respect for their origins and for the environment that surrounds them. |
These different types of buildings offer the Visitor the possibility to satisfy his/her own needs and at the same time enjoy the relaxation and quality of life that is characteristic of this little corner of the world between Siena and Florence, namely Colle Val d'Elsa and Monteriggioni.
In Colle Val d'Elsa: La Vecchia Cartiera and Relais Della Rovere. In Monteriggioni: Casalta and CastelBigozzi. |
