| Loro Ciufenna: A characteristic town, inhabited since the Etruscan and Roman eras, it was a fortified castle overlooking the Ciuffenna stream, which at this point flows through a deep rock gorge. There are many examples of Medieval architecture, including it's characteristic Romanesque bridge with it's typical pointed stone arch. The mountanious territory around it, extremely varied and evocative in it's natural landscapes, is studded with countless mountain towns, dominating castles surrounded by villages, which have kept their charm. A nearby hill features the Romanesque church of S. Pietro a Gropina, a national 10th century monument that reigns over the valley at its feet; inside the Romanesque church, an evocative stone pulpit is perfectly conserved. |
