Very nice hotel. Large rooms, clean and charming. We stayed in a room with a beautiful view of the hills. The hotel is within a 5-10 minute walk to all attractions. I would stay in it again.

The hotel was difficult to find, mainly due to poor signage.

I think people should be informed that the famous cathedral is currently under reconstruction and shrouded. It was an unexpected disappointment to discover that you cannot see any of the famous facade...only the tower.
...
Well-situated, in relation to the the cathedral and main section of the old town. Although difficult to find, mainly because of poor municipal signage and road markings, the hotel was very clean and well-maintained. The staff was consistently courteous, professional and helpful. Given the opportunity, I would stay there again.

Felt the girls at the desk were a bit unhelpful and almost resentful if you asked questions. One big question was 'why are there no lamps in our room on the bedside tables'. It was very difficult to read in the evening and we requested at least one lamp as shown in the brochure. The girl at the desk was put out and said they had none available which ment if you wanted to read (which we did) we had to lie upside-down on the bed to take advantage of the light since you could not read from the head of the bed.

Also, we realize that the Athena is the largest hotel in the area and well located, but found many Tours and Groups at breakfast and sometimes food was taken before regular guests arrived in the morning. Also, why do you not serve eggs?? This is our second trip to Italy and always use Milan as our base and travel by train. We will probably try a smaller Hotel next time hoping to stay away from so many tours, but were pleased with the room except for the LAMP and some of the girls at the desk.

You could mention that this Hotel does always have at least two Tour groups or meeting groups of some sort at the hotel which adds to the confusion, breakfast is loud. The Bar is quiet and the roof Bar is lovely. Tour groups only seem to be in the Lobby or at Breakfast. Very noisy.
...
Convenient, lots of tour groups, nosey at breakfast, and tour groups meeting in the lobby waiting to go out as a group for dinner or waiting for buses.

Wonderful people at the front desk. Very helpful. Only problem was getting to hotel. No good directions.

Good, clean, very helpful people. A little off the beaten track, but you pay a little less for it. I would definitely recommend it to those not seeking a luxury hotel but want a descent place to stay.
