A walk in May in the heart of the Chianti countryside. The road, little more than a path, winds its way down until it meets the clear waters of a small river. The wood had won. |
Extremely tenacious ivy clings onto everything that time wishes to save part of the containing wall around the large ravine, the perimeter of the house, even a large fig tree has grown within the old mill. But all around the peace and quiet is incredible. The air is sweet and crystalline like the water. |

...This is how the new history of the Mulino dell'Argenna begins five years ago. This antique mill from the sixteen hundreds, so important for the local economy up until the end of the second world war and which was then left to its destiny. |
 Urban migration, abandonment of the countryside... You can find it down here, very near the Provincial road which runs between the magnificent Chianti D.O.C vineyards, but sheltered apart from it. And when you arrive its structure in stone seems to you a little austere, like an old country house that has resisted, being solidly rad to its terrain and to its history; which is also the history of "San Donato", of Barberino and of the entire ancient history of the "Val d'Elsa" area. |
