We were frazzled from being lost and having to return a rental car. Patricia helped us figure out where to go, then helped us again when we called her again. She really made us feel welcome and helped carry our bags to our room. Very nice! We didn't have any directions from the website..not sure why. ... About #8: the room seemed clean, quiet and private, but was certainly not spacious!!
It was not exactly as expected but I'm not sure why. ... Somehow we never found out if breakfast was included...it was not. That was ok, but the website might have made that clear. It's possible we just forgot to ask or look for the information. ... The room was quite small but comfortable enough. The bathroom was tiny with a tiny but good shower. The towels were more like large dishtowels than what Americans think of as a bath towel. The hotel was quiet which was great!! A fine place to stay if you are planning to be out all day...too cramped to 'hang out in'. The people were very very nice and welcoming.

Very welcoming at the end of a long travel day. ... Simple, clean and very Tuscan. A great little hotel with friendly staff. Beds were comfortable and the room was larger than I had expected (in comparison to many others in Europe). Great restaurant nearby called 'Cats and Dogs' (in italian of course)where we enjoyed a wonderful fixed menu meal with wine matching by the glass. The hotel is close to everything in Sienna. Breakfast was not included and I had heard from a review that it was not worth the extra money, so we enjoyed our coffee and pastry at a nearby 'cafeteria'. Pleasant experience. ... I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. Perhaps you can add that. Parking instructions would also be helpful for those not familiar with the Automated Parking Voucher system and the rules for parking outside of the city gates. ... Wow! What a sanctuary in the midst of a busy travel schedule. My only regret is that we only stayed one night. Next time I'll plan to stay longer. The room was even better than I had expected and the service was great. We even got a restaurant recommendation that lead to the best meal we had during our two week trip to Italy.
Best Regards, Paula from Ottawa, Canada.

efficient and helpful front desk ... lovely accomodations - close to center of town. quiet at night. absence of a lift was no issue - as Siena is such a hilly town that my legs were in good shape! front desk person(s) also gave good info on things to see and do and eat as well as directions. ... management helped me secure taxi ride to bus station early in the morning and was kept on the line because all taxis were booked - 15 minutes spent on the telephone and all with a smile on her face - wonderful service!

I arrived really late (past midnight) so that's why no-one was there to greet me but a key was left out for me with a welcoming note, which was really lovely. ... Perhaps it was because I had experienced a really rough day's of travel but the room was so welcoming and the shower so refreshing and the bed so comfortable. It was so wonderful to finally get there and I just loved the room. ... A really gorgeous room decorated in authentic Tuscan style - terracotta floors, exposed wood beams, wooden shutters. The bed was ultra comfortable and the sheets were ultra soft and silky. Just a really nice vibe and atmosphere. I would definitely recommend it to a friend and I would definitely come back and stay there the next time I am in Siena.

You do state that there is no lift, however you should also state that no one is available to assist you with your luggage. It was not a problem for us, but could be for someone else. ... Small, well located, nice room. I would only recommend the top floor at the rear room.

I felt that the hotel should be able to provide resident's parking permits as was the case in other hotels situated in historical centres of towns and villages. Parking at the Porta Romana was inconvenient and I was concerned about the risks to my hire car. ... Would recomend it highly.

The receptionist was talking, what seemed privately, on the phone for 6-7 mínutes, before she had time to check us in. The other somewhat older Lady in the reception, (maybe the owner ?)was much more polite. ... The room was very small, but had a beautiful view. ... Nice and clean, situated perfectly near town center, charmingly restored old tower, with few, small but cosy rooms. Get the ones on 3rd or 4th floor facing north-east with a fantastic view over Siena landscape.

We were very disappointed in our room - clearly in the noisiest position on the first floor over the street. We were kept awake the first night especially. Whilst we booked fairly well in advance we thought we believe we were given the worst room. We asked to change but were told this was not possible. The one lady at reception was very unfriendly and unhelpful. This is my second time at aAntica Torre but I would think twice before recommending to friends. We had directions from ATG from our last visit so I can't answer 1 also the accommodation on the voucher just said a double room but didn't specify position - we just didn't realise there would be so much noise as we'd stayed in the back rooms on our last visit. ... As I said above we had stayed before but the reception had been friendlier and the accommodation not noisy and wiht a view. ... The one receptionist - who has been there for sometime was very helpful and friendly - the other the oppposite. ... Yes - some of the rooms have a view and are not on the side of the main street. This should be stated. ... The rooms are nice and the postion good - only you need to go when the friendly receptionist is on duty and you need to make sure you have a room on the back side and also preferably with a view.

I was dissapointed about the hotel, it was not what I expected. It's highly over priced, for the small rooms and small bathroom.

We took a cab as the hotel was too far from train station. Therefore I cannot rate your directions. ... Though room was small, I was thrilled with my view of the tuscan hillside, and very happy with Patricia, the warm and welcoming owner. ... Nothing is a 'very good' value in Italy now, still I was satisfied with my Siena hotel experience. Considering that, the price was a fair one. ... I'm sorry, I don't remember the web site. ... Intimate, homey but no breakfast. Ask for a view window. That goes a long way for making up for a small bedroom, small bathroom. Great welcoming, which is important to a weary traveler.

very cordial reception ... the room was smaller than expected; bathroom was very small ... Is within walking distance to the duomo, the campo, and St Catherine's home and church. ... Adequate room, but smaller than typical at our prior five nights in Italy. Convenient to all attractions in Siena -- lovely and hilly neighborhood for walking around in.

The hotel is very nice, clean and quaint. The bathroom is quite small, but it seems this was true in almost all the places we stayed in Italy. ... Quaint, accessable to the main part of town within 10 minutes, relatively quiet and clean.

Efficient and helpful .... particularly appreciated the assistance taking the luggage up four flghs of stairs. ... The hotel is located well, just inside the city walls and a short 8 minute stroll to the campo. The hospitality at the hotel was always polite and friendly. ... The only hic-up in checking out was that we paid by cash and the owner (a lovely lady) did not have a sufficient store of cash to provide change for larger notes. This caused a little bit of confusion (mainly language based)- but was eventually sorted out. ... A good place to stay in Siena because of its location and hospitality - be prepared for street noise at any time of the night, a feature of the close and narrow streets in medieval towns.

Small bathroom / shower, however lovely view of countryside from our 3rd floor room ... Good value hotel close to Porta Romana gate which allowed easy access to the hotel when arriving and departing from Siena. Located in a quiet area inside the old town walls, with a 5-10 minute walk to the Piazza del Campo. Helpful reception staff and clean rooms in a nicely refurbished old building. Ed & Vonny, Brisbane

We were made to feel welcome right away. When we arrived, Patricia came out and greeted us by name and introduced herself. Then she gave us a map, recommended some restaurants (that we later tried and absolutely loved), and even offered to help us haul our bags upstairs. ... The room was beautiful and clean. The noise from the street bothered us a little in the morning, but it was to be expected as Siena was gearing up for the Palio. ... This was definitely one of the friendliest hotels we stayed at in Italy. I highly recommend it.

A very different hotel experience from the usual, given that the original structure was built in medieval times, bathroom etc was modern. ... Because the hotel is an old tower, the rooms are as long as the building is wide. No lifts but definitely a good experience

Very small bathroom, but given the space available this is understandable. One particular gripe was that the hairdryer in the bathroom was absolutely appalling!
We felt the breakfast offered was of rather poor quality and decided against having it again after the first day. ... If driving, it is necessary to park the car in paying spaces on a public road approx 5 minutes' walk away - there are no facilities nearer the hotel to leave the car and in general parking in Siena is pretty difficult.
... The hotel is in a very good location and is relatively easy to find. It is quiet, clean and well-maintained, and the owner is very friendly and helpful. The room was of a decent size, though with a very small bathroom - given that the building itself is so narrow this is understandable. Very fair value for money.

The property was pretty much as expected. The room/bathroom are small but comfortable. Very clean. The location was the best part of this hotel. I highly recommend it if you enjoy staying in a place close to everything. I would stay here again if I stayed in places more than one time, but I do not usually do that. ... Location, location, location. Clean, quaint, moderate accommodations. Staff was good but few. But overall enjoyable. My luggage was lost by the airlines for one day. I thought the staff could have been a bit nmore helpful in helping me track it down by phone.

Include walking directions from Il Campo.
Something like: from Il Campo, take far right exit to Via di Pantaneto, go right. At Via dell'Oliviera, look for a fountain on right and a statue of a wolf? on a column on left. Go left. Make next left onto Via di Fiera Vecchia, hotel on left. ... A nice spacious room in beautiful Siena.

When we phoned ahead to seek detailed directions, the hotel claimed we had no booking. This was a bit alarming. It turned out simply to be an error, the person was looking at the wrong date on her booking log. Anyone can make a mistake, but she was quite adamant that there was no booking. We had an Italian friend with us to argue, but this could have distressed a guest with no Italian. ... Very nice hotel, but small and cramped. We expected this from other reviews we had read, and that was fine, since this is after all a very old building. However, the air conditioning seemed not to work, though it made plenty of noise, and in a small, stuffy room in a heatwave this was a major drawback. Horrible view, but this can't be helped, so not complaining. ... No problem checking out. Room was a bit pricey for what it was. We paid 113 euro here, and in other hotels we stayed at on our trip we never paid more than 90 and had consistently larger and cooler rooms and breakfast included, so all in all, not v good value for money. ... Definitely not suitable for disabled or elderly guests, or even people with small children -- no lift. This didn't bother us, but it should be made v clear. Also, it is not really as close to the centre of Siena as it seems (it takes nearly 30 minutes to walk to the cathedral, for example), though it is not far enough away either to be described as non-central. Still, that is another consideration for guests with any walking problems. ... Would not rush to return here, as it is small, not v central and a little over the odds in price for the accommodation offered, but perfectly fine if you are only staying one night and wd like to savour the atmosphere of an historic building.
