The owners. a very nice couple, met us with 2 bottles of wine and a bottle of sparkling wine to help us celebrate our wedding anniversary. ... The accaomodation was wonderful and the surrounding were extremely charming. The village of San Gusme' was as beautiful as the people were gracious. ... There is certainly nothing negative to say about Antica Locanda del Chianti at all. We stayed in Italy for almost 3 weeks, and our week at this wonderful place was by far our favorite of all. ... The accomodation is clean, simple and modern. The bedroom and living area look over the town square with a magnificant view of the Tuscan hills in the background. Furnishings were comfortable, the kitchen was adequetly stocked and the master bed was large and firm. All of this within a mideviel stone structure that dates back to the 14th century. Downstairs is La Porta del Chianti, the finest restaurant we dined in during our stay in all of Italy.

We missed the e mail from the owners who lived in Siena. We phoned them and they drove to San Gusme. They gave us wonderful welcoming gifts and showed us how to work all appliances. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The only problem is with payment. We had anticipated using our credit card, but had to pay in cash the next day.
Sandra Robertson ... We were a party of three people - 2 adults and one student. The accommodation stated that it was for 2x2. However, there was one double bed and one sofa bed. It was therefore more accurately described as 2x1. ... We left the key on the table and slammed the door as the owners were coming to San Gusme later in the day. ... THe accommodation should be clearly stated - we did not have enough beds. 2x2 should mean that there is space for 4 people. The sofa bed could only accommodate a single and there was only one other double bed. ... A wonderful experience in an historic stone village. A great base to explore Tuscany. A very safe environment with friendly locals. An experience not to be forgotten.

Although we arrived about 2hrs later than expected, there was still someone to greet us which we appreciated. ... The place was spacious and quiet and so were the surroundings, however the floor was not very clean especially bearing in mind we had a very small child of which they were informed. ... The contact person of the property was not very helpful when a problem with the suspension of gas supply arose, however his parents who came over within 2 hrs were very polite and helpful. ... A relaxing quiet retreat with all necessary amenities ideal for the family. Property enjoys charming surroundings in the middle of a medieval village with very warm hearted and friendly people.

We were not offered the full welcome basket as stated on the website. There was no extra virgin olive oil and no salami. No brochures or maps were offered. We had to go to the nearest tourist office which was 25 km away. ... No comment. No one was there. We were told to just leave the key on the table inside and close the door behind us. ... Beautiful and well kept.

We really enjoyed our stay there - we would recommend it for adults - but for children it would be good if there was a clothes washing machine (and perhaps a dish-washer. The apartment was very nicely set up with plenty of towels, lots of heat and in a really lovely village setting - SUPERB!!! Mr. Soccone was very friendly and helpful. Thank you! ... sorry - see above!!! ... Everything went well!! ... See above!! ... SUPERB!! cAN BE BETTER ADAPTED FOR a FAMILY GROUP

We were unable to contact our hosts an hour before arrival as they had requested because their cell phone was not working (unable to get reception). However, we 'accidentally' met up when we started to make enquiries in the cafe in San Gusme ... We enjoyed our stay. However, I think it would have been more pleasant if the kitchen were better equipped. Cooking utensils and cutlery were in short supply. Lighting in the living room was poor and seating not very comfortable. ... We think that the location in the square of San Gusme could have been better described. ... Although we enjoyed our stay, we would probably not return there. We missed not having a balcony or somewhere we could just sit outdoors.

The owner and his wife met us at the apartment in San Gusme. The arrangement worked out perfectly. ... This property was a full efficiency apartment. There was no staff (question #1). ... y ... The town of San Gusme is a very small town with a market, small cafe and one restaurant. It is a perfect countryside get-a-away from the hustle of the big cities. The restaurant is absolutuely fantastic (we ate there 3 evenings out of 4). The location is perfect for day-trips to the Chianti wineries, Siena as well as the other Tuscan towns. ... y
