Profile |
L'Andana, a former agricultural estate, was also the residence of Leopold II, Grand Duke of Tuscany who turned the Maremma into fertile land thus favouring the development of livestock and agricultural products. The estate, surrounded by olive tree planted hills, dominates the valley, catching sight of sea which is only a few miles away.
Wine and olive oil production will be carried out on site and will be used in the culinary preparations for the two restaurants on the estate. Even though L'Andana proposes grand hotel equipment and services to its guests, Alain Ducasse wished to turn it into a very comfortable countryside inn with the spirit and atmosphere of a guesthouse. |
The excellent reception, the refined decoration, the tranquillity of the place make this estate the ideal frame for ultimate relaxation. L'Andana perfectly illustrates the "art de vivre " in Tuscany. The site was entirely decorated by Ettore Mocchetti, architect and editor in chief of A.D. magazine. The Tuscan seaside style is dominated by light colours and authentic materials such as wood and stone. The antique furniture and objects complete this simple but refined luxurious entity. |
Tradition and modernity are united since the estate is also equipped with ultra modern technological equipment. The hotel is articulated around a villa sheltering, within its three floors, two Suites Prestige, one Suite Superior and six De luxe rooms, all luxurious and spacious measuring from 41 to 75 m².
Most bedroom and bathroom has a fireplace and benefits from a beautiful view over the countryside or onto the garden. The top floor may be completely privatised, thus comprising, with its terrace, a total surface of 200 m². The kitchen on the ground floor of the villa is open to guests who, gathered around the Kitchen table, may choose directly from the breakfast buffet and, for a special request, talk directly to the Pastry Chef. A glass of wine or a cocktail may be enjoyed before dinner in the comfortable reading lounge or in the spacious hotel lobby "L'Orangerie". A few privileged guests may choose to privatise this house completely, keeping it for themselves, including its swimming pool and garden. |
The reception is nested in a magnificent Florentine glass house which links the villa to a second building cradling a charming interior courtyard and a shady garden. The twenty-four rooms, divided in Suites, Junior Suites, De Luxe Doubles and Superior Doubles, from 430 to 517 square feet (40 to 80 square metres), are set out on two levels around this building, whose guests all enjoy unique view of the countryside and the gardens.
The Maremma region is known to be a high place of Tuscan gastronomy and L'Andana genuinely fits into this tradition. Alain Ducasse, naturally, chose to mark the dishes proposed with a Tuscan touch in both of the hotel restaurants which he manages. The region offers high quality traditional and country style products and excellent sea food. Products will be declined and interpreted by Alain Ducasse in a simple and genuine cuisine, putting to advantage both natural resources, wine and olive oil, produced on L'Andana estate. A path leads from the Villa to a magnificent building situated at approximately 150 yards (100 metres) looking out over the vineyards on one side and the golf course on the other, and within which most of the cooking for the estate will take place as of the Spring of 2005. A casual atmosphere embraces the Trattoria Toscana restaurant where guests are greeted at the bar, in an interior dining room and a veranda decorated by a monumental fireplace. |
The chefs will work partially before the guests who may, notably, admire the preparation and cooking of meat. This restaurant can welcome up to one hundred and twenty people. A Gastronomic Restaurant with a more intimate feeling will open in 2006, on the second floor of the same building. Adjoining this restaurant a large banqueting space (hosting up to three hundred and fifty people) with enormous windows overlooking the breathtaking scenery will be inaugurated over the Spring of 2005.
The ground floor restaurant may be privatised for the organization of cocktails, receptions, wedding receptions and business meetings and, as a complement, an adjacent lounge may also be rented. The restaurant services are completed by room service (for breakfast only). |
Some guests may choose to come to L'Andana to simply relax and enjoy the beauty and peace of the place, to rest by the heated outdoor swimming pool or to walk through the olive groves and the vineyards. Others may prefer a sporting vacation and take full advantage of the hiking and trekking opportunities or water sports offered in the region. A splendid 18-hole golf course set between wooded hills and lakes, will be open to golf players worldwide all year round as of year 2006.
Finally, guests on the estate may appreciate moments of thorough relaxation in a refined SPA (opening Summer 2005) « art de vivre » exclusively dedicated to them. Our relaxation and beauty centre is equipped with extremely modern techniques and is also characterized by methods of treatment based on products cultivated on the estate such as olive oil, grapes, colza and basil. These natural resources will be used for applications, body wrappings and specific baths. |
