Laura, the owner greeted us upon arrival with that wonderful Tuscan hospitality, made us feel at home, as long lost friend. She gave us the rundown on the property and the breakfast schedule.

Not only thing is (not negative), the sign on the main road can only be visible coming from the south. Lucky I turned around thinking I missed the turnoff road, that was then when I saw the Ancora del Chianti sign.

This is the typical Tuscan country inn that should not be missed!

The setting high on a hill surrounded by its vinyard and olive groves is spectacular. The rooms are pure Tuscan and are very comfotable. There is a friendiness that makes you feel like you are coming home to a dear friend's house.

Check in was not until 5 pm. When we arrived there was know one there. We sat in the yard for at least half an hour. When someone finally showed up, it was a girl who was working on the farm for 3 weeks as a farm helper. She was very kind, but this was not what I expected, not how I run my business.

The property, the room, the view were great. The owners are working to upgrade the property and doing a nice job. But I expect a certain level of being a host to people who come to stay on your farm. This may take a host. only 5 minutes a day, but I think it is nessessary. This was lacking.

I would tell them that it was very beautiful, but that we were alone and without the people contact that I had hoped for.
My trip to Italy was wonderful, but it is that because of the people that you interact with each day. Here, on someone'w own farm there was none of that.

Again, this was by far the best place we stayed in Italy. It was such a relief in many ways to come home to this room which was spotless and well taken care of. We loved Ancora del Chianti.

The rooms are a very nice size in comparison to most of the rooms in Italy that are for rent. My fiance and I got engaged in Venice a few days before arriving in Chianti and staying here was a very romantic and quiet setting.

We were late, but the proprietors especially waited in for us to arrive, which we very much appreciated

we were very pleased and happy with our stay, but we would have appreciated a kettle and perhaps another saucepan in the kitchen (and there was no oven)

we were surprised that credit card facilities were not available for paying our bill.

we enjoyed one of the excellent dinners provided for the guests as an option.
We enjoyed some of the breakfasts also offered as on option (although we were self-catering guests)

The location was beautiful, and a good centre for travelling around Chianti. The approach road was somewhat adventurous.
We felt that our hosts provided a friendly family atmosphere for all their guests.

We weren't happy with parking facilities. We were staying at the Ancora de Chianti for a week and priority parking was given to people staying for a night, or just a few days. We didn't know that parking requests had to be made prior to our stay and since everyone going to the farmhouse is coming by car, we wished this had been made clearer.

Laura runs a very busy farmhouse and at the moment she is three months pregnant, she needs help and the following comments illustrate this.
As mentioned we were staying for a week and we were promised a cleaning service and fresh linen, none of which was provided as a service. We had to ask for fresh towels and Laura cleaned our room once and never changed our linen during our week stay. We didn't press the issue of the room because it would have been too awkward given the circumstances, but after a few days we had to ask for a fresh set of towels. Also we were promised a good breakfast and it was quite poor. We were given hard bread and fruit juices in a carton. We realise the bread is rustic, but sometimes you couldn't even bite into it. Laura also baked a cake each morning which was very nice, but we were promised fresh fruit and fresh bread.
On a different note their olive oil and chianti was excellent.

Laura is very friendly and helpful. It's a busy farmhouse and she has to deal with a lot of requests. I think she needs more staff because she clearly wasn't able to do everything she'd have liked to and to be honest these things have to be done.

Their wine and olive oil is gorgeous, really tasty. The scenery is fantastic and it's an hour drive to Sienna and 20 minutes to Florence.
Don't forget your mosquitoe spray, their wild in the tuscan countryside.

Very nice but basic. The people are friendly and laid back. Shop around and if it means paying extra for services, especially if you're staying for a long time, you should because it can be difficult when you're on holiday doing these things for yourself.

The navigation is easy, but I said fairly good because I'd like to see a bit more and earlier *where* the B&Bs are located.

to know this in advance. Even in Euro Land the banks charge a hell for drawing money from the ATMs.

1. the kitchen was not 'full equiped' as promised, very, very small, unconvenient and as a part of our freinds room. we understood we get an appartment of two rooms and a seperated kitchen.
2. breakfast was rather poor(even not considering the price).
3. due to thin walls there was a great noice from the neighbours' washroom.
