We loved it! Claudio was great,Marina fantastic, the breakfasts very good and the location best located we could imagine- definately we would recommend Al Tuscany. It is a bit hard to find, but that is part of the charm of the old city and we managed to get there by foot from the railway station, some help would have been to tell us what gate to enter by from the stationze. ... none ... Perfectly located within the old city, but one needs to have a map of Lucca to find it. ... A place that resonates with the old city and is very much part of the history and charm of Lucca- it did not have an overtly touristy feel about it which was nice. The staff were charming and attentive- if you go to Lucca this is the place to stay, great value for money.

Helpful, friendly, honest and sorry to say good-bye. ... Quiet, clean, homely, and such friendly and helpful staff. ... Excellent. We will continue to recommend Al Tuscany to our friends

Very friendly and helpful. Complimentary drink and snack offered on arrival. ... We were upgraded to the 'Suite' as it happened to be free during the period of our stay. We had no extra to pay. Some of the other rooms (we heard from some of the other customers,) were a bit small.
EXCELLENT breakfasts. ... Helpful, friendly staff, excellent breakfasts, access to kitchen to have a drink any time of the day. Variable rooms. Central.

We were very kindly offered a bottle of wine when we left, but unfortunately we couldn't carry anymore.. ... Just a remark: the elevator is very small. There is only room for 2 people and a suitcase. ... Al Tuscany is a wonderful old house. The owner, an architect is still renovating some of the beautiful rooms and he was very helpful answering our questions. The room was great, although a bit noisy when you sleep at the front of the houses.

The reception that we recieved at Al Tuscany was very warn and welcoming both from the proprietor Claudio and his little dog Jerry, and this was continued thruought or stay. He had a full house but he found time to be attentive and kindly with everyone constantly. We will go again. ... Claudio was very helpful, he allowed to use his computor to download our boarding passes and checkin on line for the flight, he printed the train timetables for the Lucca/Pisa airport journey,He loaned his pass for the Puccini concert. And when we were leaving quite early in the morning he was there to wave us off. ... Because we were not familiar with Al Tuscany we didn't state a choice of room and we were on the top floor, the room was warm and comfortable but a long way up,and Claudio offered to move us downstairs the following day if we wanted but it seemed a fuss for such a short time and the room we had had a lot of charm. But when we were leaving he showed us room number three which was quite astonishingly beautiful and that is were I shall be next time, because I would return, for it's location,It's homeliness and it's lack of pretension, and I would recomend it to a friend.

Hard to,find the actual property on the street, as very little signage and person answering door bell did not speak english. Some confusion before we gained entry. ... we were invited to use the kitchen at any time, but noticed later on tarif in room that use of kitchen would incur an additional charge. We were asked twice what time we would like breakfast(8.00am),but when no one had appeared by 8.15 and the dining room was extremely cold we opted to start our own breakfast sitting in the kitchen where it was warmer, much to the consternation of owner when he arrived just after 8.20 We were pleased with the very central location. ... Hard to locate, but wonderful location in pedestrian only area of old Lucca. Accommodation clean and in delightful old tuscan style, although the rooms were a little short on lighting at night! There was an elevator available, but very small and slow, we decided that to walk the three flights was a better option. A great way to experience what it would be like living in an apartment in the old part of this lovely town. Don't miss the opprtunity to cycle the city walls or to sample the wonderful walnut and fig panforte cake from the cafe/deli on the corner of via Cenami and via del Battistero. A nice place to stay.

No directions for arriving from train station and then on foot. This would be helpful as Lucca is difficult to find way around at first. Also entrance to Al Tuscany not that obvious. ... Not really geared up for breakfast before 8.30am. Breakfasts could have been better. ... No problems ... Very central. Very peaceful and quiet - proximity to cathedral not a problem as bells very quiet. However, the cat from the house opposite the back of the property needs singing lessons! Air conditioning VERY quiet and works VERY well. ... Well worth visiting. Lovely confortable pillows and bed. Very relaxing but central to everything. Lots of restaurants nearby. The antiques market is fascinating.

Best description of Al Tuscany is 'quaint'. Very old building, but modern facilities. Comfortable, loved the ability to be able to go an make a cup of tea or use the kitchen when we wished.

I don't recall directions. I think the owner emailed directions which were helpful and we found it without too much difficulty.
No receptionist.
Poor breakfast
You need a 'not applicable' dot on each question on this form as Al Tuscany was a B & B not a hotel ... Perhaps a little more basic in furnishings than I was expecting for the price but the rooms were spacious and the bathroom was clean and modern. The breakfast was a disappointing. It would be helpful for guests to have access to a larger fridge in the kitchen. We were invited to use the fridge but it was also the breakfast fridge and was small and very full.
Owner not always around so each suite really needs 2 sets of keys if there is more then one adult and if they might go out separately as you can't get in without a key as the buzzer can't be heard from the rooms for your partner to let you in etc.
Need toaster and proper fruit juice (variety would be good!) for breakfast.
Staff friendly. Owner helpful when available and kindly drove us to the station on the last day of our stay as it was raining. ... Can't remember whats on website.
Good location. Friendly owner and staff
Lift a bonus for luggage
Lucca is a good base for visiting other areas of Tuscany and also Pisa and the Cique Terra.
There is no laundry a Al Tuscany and the one in Lucca was the most expensive we used on holiday.
... Yes, with details of positive aspects and short comings.

Don't be put off by door and building works on either side, you cannot hear them inside. ... Attic rooms were small but ok. The bathrooms however were in the eaves and you could not stand up in them properly. We are a small couple 5feet 2 inches and 5feet 5 inches so coped, but taller travellers had real problems. Access to upper floor is by a steep open stair which again could cause problems for the less able. ... Positive-access to kitchen and free tickets to concerts. Wonderful breakfast. Negative-upper rooms are small and bathrooms are in the eaves. ... Quirky, rustic but overall good.

The room, although we knew it would be small, was very cramped and almost unliveable. The shower, in particular, was cramped and very uncomfortable. i do realise, however, that we had booked a small room, but this was smaller than we were expecting.
I imagine the other rooms were of a more decent size. i am just no sure that the Mansarde room should be let. ... None. ... Friendly, hospitable, small.
