From North:
Take the Autostrada del Sole A1 in the direction of Bologna and Firenze. Exit the Motorway at Firenze-Certosa. Once off the motorway at the roundabout take the motorway for Siena and exit at Poggibonsi Nord (34km).
From South:
Take the Autostrada del Sole A1 in the direction of Firenze. Exit the Motorway at Val di Chiana (Bettolle) and take the road in the direction of Siena. After 51km, look for the sign Grosseto-Firenze and take this overpass. After 2 km you will see a sign for Firenze on your right hand side, take this road for 25 km until Poggibonsi Nord and exit there.
From Pisa to motorway exit:
From Pisa follow the directions for the motorway Firenze-Pisa-Livorno FI-PI-LI and exit at Empoli Ovest. Drive then towards Ponte a Elsa. From Ponte a Elsa drive on the SS 429 towards Certaldo. Drive through Certaldo and follow then towards San Gimignano.
To the Apartment from the motorway (superstrada):
Once off the motorway follow the directions for San Gimignano, as you reach the roundabout go straight. After few meters you'll reach Porta San Giovanni (St John's gate). Through this gate you enter the city walls walking onto Via San Giovanni. We are on your left hand side at house no.58. This is a traffic
limited area, so you cannot enter by car.
Advice on where to park:
A free parking is located a bit far (if you have a heavy luggage we suggest you to take it out of the car at Porta San Giovanni). In order to reach the free parking, from Porta San Giovanni (that's the first gate you meet we you reach San Gimignano) drive along the city walls and pass them, at the crossroads turn right following signs to P3 fee-paying parking. After a short drive you'll find the main entrance on your left hand side. Turn left but do not enter the parking and go straight leaving the barriers on your right hand side. Go downhill for 10 meters into a dirt street and you'll find a free parking among olive trees. |
